Ceredigion Branch Newsletter – August 2025

A heartfelt thank you to all our members who generously donated to our AudioMoth appeal. We have now purchased two AudioMoth devices, which will have been sited by the time you read this. These acoustic monitors are valuable tools for recording wildlife activity in remote areas under threat from wind farm developments.

More Wind Farms Proposed – Our Countryside Under Threat

We are saddened to report the announcement of even more industrial-scale wind farms in our region. These latest proposals pose a serious threat to the unspoilt landscapes and wildlife habitats we aim to protect:

  • Waun Hesgog near Borth (Ceredigion): Proposed by Bute Energy, this site would host 37 turbines, each towering 220m high.
  • Nant Ceiment on Pencarreg Mountain, just outside Lampeter (Carmarthenshire): Also by Bute Energy, with 13 turbines, again 220m high.
  • Glyn Cothi (Carmarthenshire): Announced by Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, with 27 turbines – 220m high.

The CPRW Carmarthenshire branch is currently inactive; however, given these recent proposals, which are so close to our shared border, we have invited Carmarthenshire members to sign up for our Ceredigion Branch newsletter and join us at our meetings.

Next Ceredigion Branch meeting – September
