In CPRW Conwy Branch area –
DNS CAS-02646-S1G1Q8 – Moel Chwa Energy Park Awaiting information
North west of Corwen and south east of Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, for up to 12 wind turbines and solar
DNS/3214855 – Alwen Forest Wind Farm In progress
North of Cerrigydrudion, for 9 turbines of 200m. Also see detailed description in CPRW Clwyd Branch p 15 of Autumn and in previous Clwyd Branch eNewsletters and magazines, and on CPRW website. The proposal is to connect to a substation in Saron, Denbighshire.
The application reached the hearing stage this June 2025 – with many submissions, incl NRW listing Landscape to have moderate adverse impact, blanket peat covers the site ; there is a detailed letter from Soils, Peatland and Agricultural Land Use Planning of Welsh Government. A detailed impact response from CPRW NEC (National Executive Committee) was sent to PEDW discussing many aspects about energy incl in Wales, and how offshore wind projects could supply this, rather than onshore.

BESS – Battery Energy Storage System – applications are made to local authorities
There is proposal for one of the largest BESS installations in the UK to be near the village of Gwyddelwern, Denbighshire, application expected to be made to Denbighshire County Council.
Groups opposing this have held meetings and continually update information, have media attention eg on BBC Wales, Daily Post newspaper and further, see facebook group – Gwyddelwern/Corwen Against Battery Storage…
